macOS Spotlight is fine until you taste a launcher that treats your clipboard, windows, snippets, and scripts as first-class citizens. Raycast is that launcher: hotkey, type, done — with a Store that turns it into a lightweight OS layer.
We used free Raycast for a week, then Pro for two, mostly for unlimited clipboard history and sync — not for AI. The AI is competent; it is not why you should install this.
Replaced Spotlight and Alfred-like habits on an M-series Mac for three weeks: window management, clipboard, emoji, GitHub/Jira extensions, and custom script commands.

Clipboard as infrastructure. Unlimited history on Pro changed how we move code and URLs between contexts. Free's limited history is enough to get hooked.
Extension Store. Calendar, GitHub, Linear, window layouts — half the menubar apps we used to keep installed became Raycast commands.
PullThe best Raycast setup is the one where AI stays optional and the hotkey becomes muscle memory.

Honesty requires alternatives. Depending on how your brain is shaped, one of these may be the right call instead.
