HOW WE’RE FUNDED.

“Advertise (never)” is a promise about verdicts — not a claim that servers are free. No brand rents a score. Here’s what money can and cannot buy at Benchlog.

Funding stance · 2026

What we will not sell

We will not sell review outcomes, embargo-friendly soft scores, “sponsored review” packages, or placement in Best-of lists in exchange for fee or product.

If a brand wants coverage, the path is the same as a reader tip: the product has to earn time on the bench under house rules.

What may fund the desk

Reader support (newsletter, memberships if we launch them), disclosed affiliate links on some commerce pages, and ordinary media operations that do not touch scores.

Any future display sponsorship would be labeled as such and kept off review templates. Until that exists, assume reviews are funded by the desk — not the subject.

Readers first

The footer line is literal: built for readers, not algorithms. Growth tricks that bury disclosures or inflate scores are out of policy even when they “work.”

  • Scores stay under editorial control.
  • Disclosures stay near the claim they modify.
  • Funding changes get a public note on this page.
