Password managers are trust exercises with receipts. Either the vault is yours when the company pivots, or you find out the hard way during a migration. Bitwarden's answer has been consistent for years: open-source clients, published audits, a usable free tier with unlimited devices, and the option to self-host if you refuse to trust anyone else's hardware.
After January 2026, Premium jumped from $10/year to $19.80/year ($1.65/mo billed annually) as Bitwarden rolled phishing blockers, vault health alerts, and larger attachment quotas into the paid plan. Families landed at $47.88/year for six seats. The free plan — unlimited logins, unlimited devices — did not get kneecapped.
